Dr. Byron Rourke, had died unex\u00adpectedly on August 10, 2011 at his home that morning. Dr. Rourke was one of the founding editors of Child Neuropsychology, as well as several other journals. He also served the field through leader\u00adship in many professional organizations, including presidencies of the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology, Division 40 of the Ame1ican Psychological Association, and the International Neuropsychological Society.<\/p>

Dr. Rourke is perhaps best known for founding the clinical neuropsychology program at the University of Windsor, ON and the resultant research in the area of nonverbal learning disabilities that received international acclaim. Among the numerous recognitions that he justly received were, most recently, the Distinguished Career Award from the International Neuropsychological Society as well as investment in the Order of Canada. His contributions to the field of clinical neuropsy\u00adchology were also reflected in tireless efforts towards the training and mentoring of many students. He will be remembered as one of the pioneers in the field of pediatric neuropsychology. May his wife and family find the strength to cope with this enormous loss.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
