Renowned neuro- psychologist, Gerald Goldstein, who was known for his substantive research and service contributions to the field of neuropsychology, died Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was 85 years old.<\/p>

Dr. Goldstein earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Kansas in Clinical Psychology. He was employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs since 1962, and had appointments at the Menninger Foundation, the University of Kansas, and the University of Pittsburgh.<\/p>

He was Senior Research Career Scientist at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh.<\/p>

Dr. Goldstein was probably best known for his seminal research contributions to the neuropsychology of alcoholism and schizophrenia, and neuro- psychological rehabilitation. He was also recognized as a leader, serving as President of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuro- psychological Society, and Division of Clinical Neuropsychology (40) of the American Psychological Association.<\/p>

Dr. Goldstein was a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psycho- pathological Association.<\/p>

Dr. Goldstein was married to Carolyn H. Shelly, until her passing in 1988. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Gardos; his nieces, Danielle Gardos and Alicia Gardos-Crumlich; and his nephew, Eric Gardos.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
